London Bombs

Today a handful of people cowardly secreted portable bombs in very soft targets. Places readily frequented by thousands of the general public. It was so simple and easy for anyone to do. As we discovered a few years ago by the fanatic Soho nail bomber, who acted alone. This does not mean that Osama Bin Laden sat in some secret hi tech cave stroking a persian cat saying, "Launch the attack" to large plasma screens. Get real. This is a handful of pissed off people, like those that attacked New York. During the peak of IRA operations Scotland yard estimated that the network extended to no more than 95 people. Do not allow yourself to be suckered into the manufactured threat that there are a billion islamic fundamentalists ready to do us harm. Trust me if that were the case we would definitely have heard about it a lot sooner and with a lot more devastation.

Still, we have to accept that this is going to become a way of life for those that live in the west. Every couple of years something like this will happen. Sometimes there will be much greater loss of life, like 9/11, when the terrorists get really lucky. So long as there is a so called "war on terror' then we need to accept that at home we are vulnerable to this "war on terror" and have to deal with the repurcussions. We are giving a particular message when we re-elect the governments that feel it necessary to perpetuate these wars, then, we the people, are behind that government and are prepared to accept the ramifications therin.

So thanks Tony Blair for keeping us safe from terrorism. You're doing a great job!
